1. VISIT
Today we were visited in our Base Camp by Valery Babanov and his climbing partner – we had lunch together. We were honoured to meet such a famous climber. Valery was the first climber to reach the Dhaulagiri Base Camp. He acclimatised on the Normal Route. He slept at 7000m when there was nobody else in the Base. Then he descended to the Italian Base Camp and attacked the unclimbed West Pillar of Dhaulagiri in alpine style – it is one of …

Jak wysokość wpływa na samopoczucie? Im wyżej tym mniej tlenu – to powoduje, że każdy wysiłek fizyczny nawet najmniejszy np. założenie butów wymaga wykonania głębokich oddechów i uczucie duszności.
Wysoko w górach serce bije szybciej i oddychamy szybciej, naturalnym mechanizmem adaptacji do wysokości jest również zagęszczenie krwi, czyli w pierwszej kolejności siusiamy więcej, następnie organizm produkuje większą ilość krwinek czerwonych.

Kinga Baranowska z Alpinus Expedition Team i Katarzyna Skłodowska przebywają obecnie w bazie i odpoczywają po trudach akcji górskiej.
Przez kilka dni nie było z nimi kontaktu telefonicznego.

W czwartek, 17.04, po siedniu dniach spędzonych w Bazie wyszłam do góry. Kinga była już wcześniej w obozie I, ja niestety chorowałam (wysoka temperatura, antybiotyk). To, plus ciężki plecak, spowodowało, że droga do obozu pierwszego ciągnęła się w nieskończoność.

19.04.2008 As planned, we left the Base on April 18 and after 7 h of marching we reached Camp 1 at the altitude of 5900m.

To był kluczowy weekend w drodze na Annapurnę – Piotr Morawski z Alpinus Expedition Team jest już przygotowany do ataku na szczyt!
W sobotę Piotr Morawski z Peterem Hamorem znaleźli drogę do jedynki na 5500 m n.p.m.
Z informacji smsowych Piotra Morawskiego: cały lodowiec za nami, przed nami grań. ABC (obóz wysunięty) i jedynka zaopatrzone. W niedzielę Darek Załuski i Piotr Pustelnik zaopatrzyli jedynkę. Ponad jedynką jest trudny teren, twardy lód i skała. Po odpoczynku do ataku! Trzymajcie kciuki! W ekipie zdrowie i humor dopisują!

17.04.2008. Despite initial difficulties caused by the political situation in Nepal and unstable weather, the members of the HiMalayan Expedition – Dhaulagiri 2008 are continuously “climbing up”.

Today, a group led by Ryszard Pawłowski has reached the Base Camp. They have climbed the snowy passes – the Dampuss Pass and the French Pass. All the members of the expedition are now preparing to ascent Dhaulagiri.

Expediotion grounded for good…(Jomoson, 8 April 2008)
We can risk a conclusion that our expedition has suspended its activity for an undefined period of time. We are grounded. We were not able to find any porters willing to climb the snowy Dampus Pass and the French Pass (5360m) despite generous fees offered by us.
Due to the ongoing election campaign and bad weather, we were also not able to rent a helicopter.
